Will standard parts be overloaded following the fitment of Carlsson products?
Close attention is paid to the retention of everyday usability when developing Carlsson parts, especially those intended to increase performance.
To this end, such parts include intelligent safety features that manage overloading risks.
But that is not all: the durability and reliability of parts is tested time and again under extreme circumstances in extensive trials and on the race track.
Does the installation of Carlsson products affect the vehicle's registration approval?
All Carlsson parts are fully tested and can be supplied with a TÜV expertise on request.

Increasing the engine power constitutes a change in the design of the vehicle. In Germany, all such modifications must be entered in the vehicle documents. To this end, Carlsson provides the necessary TUV expertise for all engine conversions and power kits available in Germany. This ensures the entries can be made in the vehicle documents without difficulty. Not entering the modifications in the vehicle papers can result in the loss of type approval and, in the case of an accident, loss of insurance protection and heavy legal penalties. Because there is, unfortunately, no standard procedure for registering increased engine power, our customers outside Germany are asked to contact the appropriate authorities in their country. The German TUV expertise is accepted, for example, in Austria and Luxembourg.
What about the vehicle guarantee?
For the area of the EU and Switzerland, Carlsson gives a guarantee of 36 months and max. 100,000 km from the date of installation on original Carlsson parts. In the case of engine tuning kits, Carlsson gives a guarantee of 24 months and max. 100,000 km from the date of initial registration on the engine, transmission and differential. Naturally, the statutory guarantee applies in addition to the Carlsson guarantee.
Who do I turn to if damage has been caused to my car by Carlsson parts? Who bears the costs?
Should your vehicle have been damaged, please contact the dealer from whom you purchased the Carlsson parts. The dealer will then agree the steps to be taken with Carlsson. Carlsson will bear the cost of repairing the damage in accordance with the provisions of the guarantee after checking that the case is covered by the guarantee and issuing an authorisation. Unfortunately, Carlsson can bear no other costs, e.g., hire car, loss of earnings, etc.
Should I take any action with regard to my motor-vehicle insurance?
You should always notify your insurance company of any power increase because the various insurance companies deal differently with the subject of engine tuning. On the basis of our experience to date, an increase in the insurance premium is not likely. If them vehicle is leased or financed, an increase in power should be notified to the leasing or financing company if required by the terms of the contract.
Will an increase in engine power lead to an increase in the vehicle tax?
The vehicle tax will increase only if the increase in power has been achieved by increasing the capacity of the engine or if the emission category has changed.
Are special tyres required after boosting engine power?
Every tyre is marked with a so-called speed index that shows the maximum speed allowed for that tyre, e.g., V = up 240km/h, ZR = over 240km/h). If the tuning measures increase the top speed of the car, the tyres fitted must be checked and, if necessary, replaced. This is always the case if the speed index of the standard tyre does not cover the new maximum speed. Fitting new tyres with different dimensions does not change the vehicle’s emission classification.
What happens if I have the C-Tronic® Diesel POWER fitted to my next vehicle?
If the C-Tronic® Diesel POWER is transferred to a replacement vehicle, the 36-month guarantee on the device (the Carlsson CTronic ® Diesel Power) remains in force. However, the guarantee for the engine, transmission and differential applies only to the ’first vehicle’, i.e., the vehicle mentioned in the original confirmation of installation.
